As a writer, I always carry a journal with me. It’s a good place to write down story ideas, character names, or scenes when they pop into my head. I want you to start keeping a writing journal (if you haven’t already). Use it however you see fit.
Carry it with you or have it handy around the house. I usually have multiple ones for different topics, but one works just fine. (Here’s a link on how to create DIY journals if you’re looking for a creative project. Note, I am not affiliated with the linked website)
For today, I want you to make a list of 10 story ideas. They don’t have to be great or specific, just ideas you can return to and flesh out later. They can be poem ideas, non-fiction ideas, fiction, or even essay topics for a class.
Look around you. Find inspiration from the world you live in or from ideas that are circulating around your brain. If you can’t come up with 10 story ideas, just write down however many you can think of. The goal is to get ideas on paper for later.
Stay well and happy writing!
