Instead of doing a writing prompt today, I wanted to post a list of some writing craft books that have been helpful to me. You can purchase these at any local indie bookstore or check them out from your library. Given that many libraries are closed right now, you can take a look and see if they have an e-book option on their app.

- Plot & Structure by James Scott Bell
Plot & Structure discusses the basics of plot and how it works to move your story forward. Bell touches on everything from different plotting systems, character arc in plot, and includes a checklist for critical points in your story.
2. Save the Cat! Writes a Novel by Jessica Brody
This book offers insight on how to plot your novel using a three act structure. It even has a beat sheet which breaks it down into easy chunks.
3. Story Genius by Lisa Cron
Story Genius uses brain science to help outline your novel, develop well-crafted characters, and so much more.
4. Understanding Comic by Scott McCloud
Understanding Comics is not only a resource for those who want to write and create comics and graphic novels, it is also a book that can apply to fiction writes as well. It’s written as a comic and is easy to follow and apply to your own work.
5. Wonderbook by Jeff Vandermeer
Wonderbook is an illustrated guide to creating imaginative fiction stories. Vandermeer covers everything from Narrative design, characterization, world building, and revision. Wonderbook leads the writing on a colorful adventure through the ups and downs of novel writing.
